By my late twenties I had sold vehicles across continents. I could have stayed in sales. But I saw how quickly information technology was changing, and I knew that my knowledge from the early 2000s would not be enough for what was coming.
So I went back to university. From 2012 to 2015 I studied Information Technology at master's level at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), one of the oldest technical universities in Europe.
Studying again after years in business was different from studying at twenty. I knew why each topic mattered, because I had seen the problems in real companies. Databases, software architecture and networks were no longer theory. They were answers to questions my clients had asked me.
Budapest gave me the technical update I needed, and it also brought me to Europe. From there, life took me somewhere I had not planned.
What this chapter taught me
